How to be chic this winter ?
Winter is the season when elegance truly comes to life. Layers, rich textures, and timeless pieces allow us to create outfits that are both chic and cozy. If, like me, you live for winter fashion, I’ve put together a guide on how to be chic this winter.
Without a good foundation, nothing works. If the base of the outfit is right, we can easily elevate any combination. However, when it comes to style, it's all about two main things: quality and how something fits you. You can tell from a mile away when a garment is of poor quality- it instantly brings down the whole look and makes it appear cheap. Of course, when it comes to well-made pieces, it's worth setting aside a bit more money, because investing in quality pieces always pays off- they look better and last longer. Equally important is how well clothing follows the natural lines of your body. Every cut tells its own story, and not every story will suit everyone. When we find pieces that truly fit us, the outfit looks complete- not like a random mix of clothes thrown together.
Once the base is right, details are what truly make an outfit chic. Accessories, especially bags, are like punctuation marks—they complete the sentence your outfit is writing. Every girl should have a classic clutch bag, an everyday bag, and a bag in interesting colors. You need a classic clutch for nights out, dinners, and cocktails with friends. I recommend sticking with black for this one because of the elegance it holds. When it comes to an everyday bag, it really depends on your personal preference. Some prefer shoulder bags, while others prefer bags that you carry in your hand. Currently, suede bags are in trend. Personally, I really like suede shopper bags for everyday use. However, in my opinion, the most important bag is the one that makes you stand out from others. This isn’t a bag you wear every day. It’s a bag that will make that outfit way more interesting. This season, Zara has bags in interesting colors and textures.
Jewelry and small touches also matter. A gold classy watch peeking from under along sleeve, or delicate earrings catching the light, subtly elevate the whole look without shouting for attention. Jewelry is very important if you know how to style it well. It’s important to learn the difference between too much and just enough. Jewelry is there to complete your look, not to overwhelm your whole appearance. I advise you to start with a minimalist watch. As for bracelets, a simple, thin bracelet goes best with a good watch. For necklaces, follow the same simple method—a thin chain with a special symbol. Personally, I love a good necklace, but I don’t always wear them. For example, I don’t like to combine necklaces with turtlenecks.
When it comes to footwear, it’s important to have a good pair of sneakers. For me, that's Golden Goose, because they go with everything, but you should focus more on good boots. I wear my black high boots all winter. I would sleep in them if I could. Every girl, every woman, needs a good pair of boots because they elevate even the simplest outfit. They go with everything—from jeans to dresses. It’s nice to have olive, burgundy, and brown boots, but black ones are a MUST.
And let’ s talk about one of my favourite winter details- hair tucked inside a turtleneck. It's effortlessly chic, cozy, and gives that “ I didn't try too hard “effect we all love. It frames the face beautifully and adds a chic touch. This winter, scarves are a must. You need a silk scarf to wear around your neck, tie to your suede everyday bag, or even wrap it around your waist for a stylish twist. The second type of scarf you need is the chunky oversized one. They are perfect for everyday because they are warm and stylish at the same time.
Remember, being chic isn't about adding more - it's about choosing better. Every element should feel intentional, connected, and true to your style.
