Invited to a Christmas party and don’t know what to wear?

Invited to a Christmas party and not sure what to wear? Let me make this easy — you can never, ever be overdressed. While most people keep it casual, I prefer to treat every holiday gathering as an opportunity to look my absolute best. After all, it’s Christmas: the photos last forever, the vibe is festive, and there’s truly no downside to showing up a little extra. If you're ready to look effortless, elevated, and perfectly put-together, keep reading.

If I were invited to a Christmas party, this is exactly what I would wear.

When I think of a Christmas party outfit, the first things that come to mind are mini dresses, skirts, or leather shorts. The most important element for these looks is tights - you'll need a pair of nude tights and a pair of black ones, both plain and the one with lace. As for dress colors, I'd go for either black or burgundy. You're probably wondering which tights to pair with which dress, but it's actually very simple.

When a dress is heavily embellished or visually strong, it calls for simple, understated tights to maintain balance and elegance. Lace or textured tights are best reserved for minimalist dresses, where they can elevate the look without overwhelming it.

For footwear, I stick to classic black heels, especially kitten heels, for comfort and elegance. Black boots are another chic option.

Lately, I've been drawn to a Zara skirt with embroidered roses, styled with a cute top or a white blouse and classic black tights to let the textures of the skirt stand out. I’d avoid lace tights here, as they would compete with the detailing. Finish the look with timeless black heels.

For black leather shorts, I prefer pairing them with a sleek bodysuit or a sweater , styled with high black boots- a polished yet effortless choice. Again, I would skip lace tights to keep the focus on the strength of the leather.

When it comes to outerwear, stay loyal to a black coat- longer silhouettes add instant depth and elegance. Alongside it, faux fur jackets are a strong trend this season and make a perfect statement layer for festive occasions.

The Christmas party should be your moment to shine. Don’t let anyone stop you from dressing up or telling you that you are too much. Ladies, remember you can be too much only to the wrong people.
